I am a researcher and PhD student in the Computing Education Research Group at Freie Universität Berlin. My research interests lie in AI and data education. My academic background is in computer science, data science, history, philosophy, and education.

Research

Since 2021, I have worked alongside Prof. Dr. Ralf Romeike in the Computing Education Research Group at Freie Universität Berlin. Together, we have conducted research on data literacy and AI education within the context of computing education in schools. We collaborate with computer science teachers and schools.

My research focuses on conceptualizing a data-centric approach to AI education and understanding the mechanisms that enable students to develop agency – the ability to understand, evaluate, model, and construct data-driven AI systems. Methodologically, I follow an educational design-based research approach as a general framework. To investigate the mechanisms, I employ conjecture mapping and design principles. Recently, we have been experimenting with hypothetical learning trajectories.

Until 2024, I was also involved in the TrainDL-project in the same research group. My work included designing and conducting teacher training programs to enable not only computing teachers, but all teachers, to acquire AI and data literacy.

Before joining Freie Universität Berlin, I was a research scientist at the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS, collaborating with Roberta-Initiative – an open-source STEM education platform for coding and robotics in Germany.

I love explaining my research by creating beautiful scientific posters! Explore some of my work here: #poster

Education

I hold a Master's degree in Information Processing and a Bachelor's degree in History, Philosophy and Education, both from the University of Cologne. During my Master's degree, I acquired an Advanced Diploma in IT Systems Analysis and Design from the University of Oxford. I most recently completed the Applied Data Science program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
